10.10.03 Lim Jeong Hee feat. JoKwon - On The Way To Break Up @ InkiGayo

Kwonnie performed his duet with Lim Jeong Hee for the second time today on InkiGayo, and I loved it SO much!!

It seems like Angelet members were at the studio the whole day to give support to Kwon today, and I applaud those dedicated fans for always being there for him - despite the lack of sleep and not yet fully recovered from his cold he was in a much better mood thanks to them;Kwonnie even tweeted about this earlier today. For today's performance Kwon was part of the pre-recorded lineup(unlike the performance on Music Bank) and because of this I already had some wistful  imaginations of how nice the set for his stage was going to be,but indeed when I saw the performance I was completely awed - the set was marvellous!

I don't think I need to write any explanation regarding the set for this performance when we can see how fantastic it was from the caps. One of my biggest regret(?) for this song - other than the default factor that it was not meant to be officially promoted when it is actually such a good song - would be the fact that  no proper music video was shot for it.The song with it's melancholic lyrics would have been the perfect setting for a melodramatic music video to be created;in fact when the teaser for this duet song was released remember how they attached that image of Kwon sullenly turning back at the top of the staircase to look at something/someone?

I originally thought that there was going to be an official music video for this duet based on that short scene on the teaser and one of the scenarios that went true my head was scenes of both J.Lim (or another actress) and Kwon at their own respective places getting ready to get on their way to do what they wanted to do;one wanting to break up while the other finally confessing his ultimate love.Since that didn't work out the way I had hoped it would I' guess I should thank the people of InkiGayo for producing such a detailed set for this performance as it was basically a mini music video(for lack of a better phrase) for the song itself.

As for the performance,I was really impressed with how perfectly their voices blended when they were singing it individually the whole time; not an easy task to do when you're supposed to be singing a duet. There were no eye contact or even a shared space between the two singers for the entire duration of the performance yet their voices came together as one beautifully and as a huge fan of the song I was thoroughly satisfied.Guess that just shows how good they really are as ballad singers.

My favourite Kwon : the JoKwon who sings so passionately on stage

And not surprisingly there was no trace whatsoever of the oppresed-looking Kwonnie from yesterday's rainy show;he really is THE consummate pro isn't he?I thought the hair, makeup and even his outfit for today's performance was PERFECT - he looked like some kind of a Prince character out of a manhwa/manga or something.Just gorgeous. And I must compliment J.Lim's outfit too; I thought the romantic style fits the song much better than her chosen style for Would Never Be Real and she actually matched Kwon's style this time around and it makes up for a more suitable ambience for the song.Overall I was really pleased that what would probably be the final performance of this song was done wonderfully and that the stage was given such a treatment, and now the only small wish I have would be for the duet to be sung in it's full version(and not shortened) someday.

And after Kwon was done with singing this sad ballad so wholeheartedly that it makes you wanna cry when you watched it,he went back to being the cute, animated and forever energetic Energizer Bunny that is InkiGayo MC KkapKwon. The way that he does everything so effortlessly is just so..JoKwon.That's right, there would never be another quite like you Kwonnie.=)

And for the good people of InkiGayo, please make sure there will be another great (if not better) stage set for 2AM when they make their comeback in a bit.Thanks.

  2. koreans are so creative! how can they set up such a perfect stage like that? and kwon and j.lim being able to sing their duet without needing to see each other, only a pro can do that. :)
